I intentionally saved today’s quote for Mother’s Day. Many of us have heard some version of it before, but it always hits me harder this time of year.

Mother’s Day is so special for some families, and so hard for others.

No matter what the day brings up for you this year, it can only get better when we remember to play. Playing heals our hearts. It lifts our spirits. And it reminds us that life can still be fun no matter how hard it gets.

In fact, I have learned that playing is one of the best ways we can honor those we have lost—and that when we don’t feel like playing is precisely when we should. 

With that said, if you are in Los Angeles and looking for some play today, join me and my family on Tommy’s Field at Westwood Recreation Center where we will be hosting the TM23 Community Cup and watching 250 children from across the city PLAY!

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. so drop in for as little or long as you would like and grab an ice cream, bid on a raffle item, or at the very least—get a hug.
